Tesla CEO Elon Musk believes humanoid robots will require substantial power to operate as Tesla continues developing its Optimus line. Musk responded to a post on X by Tesla influencer Sawyer Merritt that cited Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas' prediction about robot energy use. Jonas estimated that one billion humanoid robots would need enough power roughly equivalent to the entire U.S. electric grid. Musk responded that the power needed would exceed those estimates. The post comes after Musk claimed Optimus could impact countries' GDP within 4 to 5 years and learn tasks by watching YouTube videos.Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also praised Tesla’s effort, calling humanoid robotics the next multi-trillion-dollar industry.
