Microsoft Corporation laid off over 300 additional employees on Monday, just weeks after cutting around 6,000 roles. The new round of cuts was confirmed by a company spokesperson and disclosed in a Washington state notice, according to Bloomberg. A Microsoft spokesperson said the company is making organizational changes to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving market. These layoffs follow the roughly 6,000 cuts Microsoft announced last month. The layoffs coincide with Microsoft and other tech giants ramping up AI investments while reducing roles unrelated to artificial intelligence. CEO Satya Nadella previously noted that AI now assists in writing up to 30% of the company’s code base. Microsoft remains the world’s most valuable company with a $3.43 trillion market cap. Shares rose 0.35% during Monday’s session and fell 0.26% after hours.
