Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh — Violent clashes broke out late Tuesday night near Amrala village on the Bhojpur-Pilkhuwa Road after a truck allegedly transporting banned meat was intercepted by members of Hindu Yuva Vahini, Bajrang Dal, and local villagers.
According to reports, the truck was stopped around 9 PM after activists, led by Neeraj Sharma and Madhur Nehra, received a tip-off. Upon discovering large quantities of meat in the vehicle, the enraged mob vandalized the truck, thrashed the driver and cleaner, and eventually set the vehicle ablaze despite police intervention.
Senior officers, including Bhojpur SHO Amit Sharma and ACP Gyanprakash Rai, arrived at the scene with reinforcements, but the protesters remained defiant, demanding the immediate arrest and 'encounter' of the accused. Firefighters were called in to douse the flames, while JCB machines were used to control the fire using mud.
The situation intensified further as protesters staged a sit-in protest, blocking the Bhojpur-Pilkhuwa Road for nearly two hours, causing widespread traffic disruption.
Veterinary officials have taken meat samples for forensic testing to verify whether it was cow meat. As of now, no official complaint has been filed, but a detailed investigation is underway.
