A former BJP district functionary from Haridwar has been arrested on charges of facilitating the repeated gang-rape of her 13-year-old daughter by her boyfriend and his associate over a three-month period.
The accused mother, who was removed from her BJP post in August 2024 due to prior conduct complaints, allegedly forced her daughter to consume alcohol before the assaults. The abuse occurred between January and March 2025 in multiple locations including Haridwar, Agra, and Vrindavan.
Two suspects have been arrested: the mother and her boyfriend Sumit Patwal. A third accused, Shubham, remains at large. The victim's father discovered the abuse after noticing his daughter's distress and filed a police complaint. Medical examination has confirmed the sexual abuse.
The crimes involved death threats against both the victim and her father to ensure silence. The BJP has officially expelled the woman from the party following the allegations.
Both the mother and her boyfriend are currently in judicial custody while police continue searching for the third suspect.
