An auto-rickshaw driver who was offering bag-keeping service to visa applicants near the US consulate in Mumbai's BKC area has shut his "business". This came after the local police launched an inquiry after a LinkedIn post by Rahul Rupani, product leader at Lenskart, brought the auto driver into the public eye. Rupani claimed the driver earns INR 5-6 lakh monthly by offering bag-keeping service at INR 1,000 to applicants near the US consulate. This claim, however, was dismissed by the driver. After Rupani's post went viral, raising eyebrows over the "business idea," the BKC police summoned the driver. Following the questioning, it emerged that nearly a dozen more drivers were making side income by offering bag-keeping service. While the police did not register any case, all drivers were ordered to stop their bag-keeping services near the consulate.
