The Works Ministry has allocated funds for upgrading the East-West Highway since 2023, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Speaking after the weekly post-Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (June 11), Alexander said RM30mil was approved in 2023, followed by RM7.2mil in 2024, for improvements to critical sections of the highway—including road resurfacing and installation of street lighting.
He added that an additional RM55mil has been set aside to upgrade accident-prone areas along the route, but this phase has yet to begin as further studies are needed.
