An Air India plane bound for London crashed moments after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Gujarat's Ahmedabad on Thursday, June 12. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, operating as flight AI171, was flying with 242 people, including 169 Indians & 61 foreign nationals, on board. While 241 people died in the crash, a passenger, who was in seat 11A, miraculously survived. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was among deceased passengers. A formal investigation has been launched by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) into the plane crash being described as one of the worst aviation disasters in the history of India's aviation sector.
