There will be long spells of sunshine for much of England and Wales this afternoon. Scotland and Northern Ireland will also see the occasional bright spells, although it will be generally cloudier here with showers occurring intermittently. Meanwhile cloud will thicken in the southwest of the UK bringing heavy rain for parts of southwest England and southern and central Wales.
