Authorities captured 57-year-old Vance Luther Boelter late Sunday, according to CNBC. Boelter is the suspect in the politically motivated assassination of former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband. Boelter also allegedly shot state Senator John Hoffman and his wife in a separate attack earlier that day. The Hoffmans are in stable condition. Authorities found what they believe to be the suspect’s vehicle in Sibley County on Sunday and recovered undisclosed evidence relevant to the investigation. Officials said Boelter was carrying a list of other lawmakers, heightening public fears. Governor Tim Walz honored Hortman on X, calling her “the most consequential Speaker in state history.” Senator Klobuchar remembered Hortman as a true public servant respected by lawmakers across the political spectrum. President Donald Trump stated the U.S. would not tolerate such acts.
