A man has been disqualified from driving after causing a serious collision in Guildford.
On Saturday, 9 December 2023, officers were called to the scene of a serious collision on Worplesdon Road. When they watched the shocking footage above, they saw the driver of a grey Mazda overtaking an HGV at speed when approaching a traffic island.
Rather than move back into the correct lane after this dangerous manoeuvre, the driver then continued in the offside lane, where he collided head-on with the rider of a motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was thrown from his motorcycle and sustained serious injuries.
Kai Chun Chan, 44, (21/06/1980), from Woking, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and was given a 22-month custodial sentence, suspended for two years. He was also disqualified from driving for two years.
