A Tesla Model Y repeatedly ran school bus stop signs and struck child-size mannequins while in Full Self-Drive mode during a demonstration in Austin, according to Engadget. The Dawn Project, Tesla Takedown, and ResistAustin conducted the tests, showing Tesla's Full Self-Driving software made the same mistake eight times. Tesla’s autonomous feature requires constant driver attention and issues escalating warnings, with a disclaimer that misuse could result in serious harm or death. The software has previously faced criticism over safety concerns. In a post on X, Musk said Tesla may delay the June 22 Cybercab rollout due to heightened safety precautions. He added that a Tesla could self-drive from the factory to a customer’s home by June 28.
