Texas Instruments announced it will invest over $60 billion to build or expand seven semiconductor facilities in Texas and Utah, according to the BBC. The company called it the “largest investment in foundational semiconductor manufacturing in US history.” Texas Instruments plans to build or expand seven chip-making facilities across three sites in Texas and Utah and expects to create 60,000 jobs. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said President Trump prioritizes U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and that the partnership with Texas Instruments will support it for decades. Some analysts view the major spending announcements as efforts to placate Trump, who has threatened to cancel the $52.7 billion CHIPS and Science Act introduced by former President Biden.
