An abandoned puppy left for dead next to a dumpster was rescued when a resident discovered him while taking out his trash. Animal rescuer Lisa Reams, 51, from Yazoo City, Mississippi, received a call to say the tiny, scared pooch had been found, likely weighing no more than one pound. When Lisa arrived, she set her phone to record, capturing the moment the helpless, curled-up puppy, who she estimated was around seven weeks old, was collected. The dog, who Lisa named Oscar, was dehydrated, hungry, covered in fleas and ticks, and full of worms, she said. Lisa, the founder and president of Saving Grace Animal Shelter, then took Oscar to the vet, following the rescue on March 17. When the video of Oscar's rescue was later posted on social media, the clip soon went viral, and Lisa's documentation of his journey received several loving comments. By sharing the story, Lisa hopes to raise awareness for animal adoption and the work of rescue groups like hers.
