Mysuru — Two men, including a food delivery worker, were killed in a high-speed crash after a luxury bike collided with a scooter on Nelson Mandela Road in Bannimantap early Sunday, 6 July.
The deceased have been identified as Syed Sharen (30), a resident of K.P. Mohalla in Chamarajanagar, who was riding a ₹15 lakh Hayabusa, and M.S. Karthik (42), a food delivery worker from Shettinayakanahalli in Mysuru taluk.
Police said the accident occurred around 2 am when Sharen’s high-end bike, reportedly at high speed, rammed into Karthik’s scooter as he was heading for a delivery. After the collision, the bike hit an electric pole and caught fire. Both riders suffered fatal head injuries and died on the spot.
DCP K.N. Sunder Raj, NR Traffic Inspector Rekha Bai, and other police officials visited the spot and conducted an inspection. An FIR has been filed at the NR Traffic Police Station.
Sources indicated that a bike race may have preceded the accident. Police are examining CCTV footage from the stretch between Highway Circle and LIC Circle to confirm if racing was involved.
