William F. Buckley debates segregationist Leander Perez on his television show Firing Line. Perez was a Democratic Party political boss in Plaquemines and St. Bernard parishes in southeastern Louisiana during the 1950s and 1960s and became nationally known for leading efforts to enforce and preserve segregation.
