Study on HPV bared
Dr. Ourland Tantengco, researcher of the Defeat HPV study, said that 1 in 7 women in the Philippines will likely test positive for human papillomavirus (HPV), a sexually-transmitted disease. Tantengco conducted a study with over 1,100 women from residents of Tondo, Manila, and Naic, Cavite.
The study revealed that in Tondo, 15.1% of women tested positive for HPV. In Naic, 12.8% of women were infected, and one in four of them had multiple strains.
