Dan Rivera, lead investigator and caretaker of the infamous Annabelle doll, has died at age 54 while touring with the New England Society for Psychic Research. A respected figure in the paranormal world, Rivera had been sharing the legacy of Ed and Lorraine Warren, traveling across the U.S. with Annabelle — the supposedly haunted doll said to be possessed by a demonic entity. His death came after appearing in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where he spoke at the historic Soldiers Orphanage Homestead.
Rivera’s passing has only intensified speculation surrounding the “Devils on the Run” tour. In May, Annabelle’s stop in New Orleans was followed by a major fire and a jailbreak, prompting viral conspiracy chatter online. Then in Pennsylvania, a regional power outage hit just before the final day of the event — and by July 13th, Rivera was gone.
