Iceland has just witnessed its twelfth volcanic eruption in only four years — and this time, it’s dangerously close to the capital, Reykjavik.
Lava poured from a deep fissure in the Earth near the deserted town of Grindavik, forcing emergency evacuations of locals and tourists from the famous Blue Lagoon spa.
Though this eruption was considered small, the frequency and intensity of these volcanic events are raising serious concerns.
