On September 7th, 2025, Earth witnessed a stunning blood moon during a total lunar eclipse — but high above us, NOAA’s GOES-18 and GOES-19 satellites captured something even more incredible. Just hours before the moon slipped into Earth’s shadow, it blocked the sun from the satellites’ view — creating a solar eclipse from space! This rare double eclipse event was seen only by these geostationary satellites, and it’s a reminder of the incredible perspective space gives us.
