The US has blocked the import of bicycles and parts made in Taiwan by manufacturer Giant, accusing the company of using forced labor. The hold is effective immediately, with US Customs and Border Protection citing “reasonable” indicators of forced labor and violations of 19 U.S.C. §1307. This law prohibits goods made with forced labor from entering the US.
Taiwan’s economic ministry says it will work with the labor ministry to help Giant resolve the alleged forced labor issues.
