Hala Gorani, NBC News - Moderator
Hala Gorani is an award winning international journalist whose career has spanned continents. After early reporting roles in France and London, she joined CNN in 1998 to anchor flagship programmes such as Hala Gorani Tonight and to work as a war correspondent. In 2024 she published her memoir But You Don’t Look Arab: And Other Tales of Unbelonging. She currently works as a correspondent for NBC News.
Faisal Al Yafai, New Lines Magazine
Faisal Al Yafai is a journalist and podcaster. He is international editor at New Lines Magazine and host of the award-winning podcast, The Lede, now in its eighth season.
He was previously an investigative journalist for The Guardian in London and a documentary journalist for the BBC, and has reported from across the Middle East, from Eastern Europe, Russia and Indonesia.
Felicity Garvey, Reporters Without Borders (RSF)
Felicity is UK Advocacy Officer at Reporters Without Borders (RSF), where she works on press freedom and journalist safety issues. She has previously worked with the Amjad and Suha Bseisu Foundation on scholarship programmes linked to the Levant, as well as the Council for Arab-British Understanding and Amnesty International’s Digital Verification Corps. She holds degrees from the University of Cambridge in Politics and International Relations, Development Studies, and Management Studies.
Richard Sanders, Freelance
Richard Sanders is a freelance author, journalist and film director. I've made around 60 films for UK terrestrial TV, including more than 20 Dispatches. The last couple of years I've worked primarily for Al Jazeera's Investigative Unit. I made the 3 films below for them and am now working on a film about the West Bank.
Jon Williams, Rory Peck Trust
Jon Williams is a three-time Emmy Award-winning editor and storyteller. He became Executive Director of the Rory Peck Trust in 2024 after serving as Managing Director of RTÉ News, where he led the digital transformation of Ireland’s public service broadcaster. At RTÉ he directed a newsroom of 350 journalists producing daily news and current affairs across television, radio, and digital platforms, taking RTÉ News to market leadership on air and online, doubling its global reporting footprint, and establishing it as Ireland’s most trusted news source.
