For students at Koupi Experimental Elementary School, learning Siraya is a mandatory course—part of the school's mission to revitalize the once-lost language.
However, despite recognition from the Tainan City government since 2005, Taiwan has yet to officially recognize the Siraya as an Indigenous nation with a unique language and culture.
