പദ്ധതിയുടെ പേര് പി എം വെച്ച് തുടങ്ങുന്നു എന്ന ഒറ്റ കാരണത്താൽ 40 ലക്ഷം കുട്ടികൾക്കുളള ആനുകൂല്യങ്ങൾ വേണ്ടെന്ന് വെക്കാനാവില്ലല്ലോ. അവകാശപ്പെട്ട 1400 കോടി വാങ്ങിച്ചെടുക്കുക തന്നെ ചെയ്യും. ആർ എസ് എസ് അജണ്ട കേരളത്തിൽ വിലപ്പോകില്ലെന്ന് ഞാൻ ഉറപ്പു നൽകുന്നു.' പി എം ശ്രീ പദ്ധതിയിൽ ഒപ്പുവെച്ചതിനെതിരെ സി പി ഐ പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ച അതൃപ്തിയിൽ മറുപടിയുമായി വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ മന്ത്രി വി ശിവൻകുട്ടി. “Just because the name of the project starts with PM, we cannot deny benefits to 40 lakh children. We will definitely secure the entitled ₹1400 crore. I assure you that the RSS agenda will not work in Kerala.” Education Minister V. Sivankutty responded to the dissatisfaction expressed by the CPI over signing the PM SHRI project.
