A woman with an unusually deep voice has revealed that people constantly mistake her for a man.
Abigail Virginia, 24, from Nashville, Tennessee, USA, has gone viral for her naturally deep voice, which often leaves people stunned when they hear her speak or sing.
The musician explained that she’s often called ‘sir’ in drive-thru's and on the phone, and has to raise her pitch in order to stop being mistaken.
She said: “Advantages of having a deep voice as a female - people almost have to listen to you because the tonality in your voice is so distinct and it makes people listen.
“There's just something about it.”
She told how deep tone has even caused confusion on television as after performing on a national singing show, many viewers assumed she was a man.
Despite the occasional mix-up, she’s also learned to see it as a strength.
The unique tone leaves listeners engaged and can even scare unwanted people away.
She added: “If you need to scare away a scary man, you can make your voice even deeper and be like, ‘bro, get out the way’ and really scare them.
“Those are some advantages.
“I started to talk to them and they're like, ‘I did not expect that to come out of your little body’.”
