A major tragedy was narrowly averted at a railway station in Tamil Nadu when a woman attempting to board a moving train slipped and nearly fell into the gap between the platform and the train. Thanks to the quick reflexes of a Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer, the woman’s life was saved in the nick of time.
The dramatic incident, captured on CCTV footage now going viral, shows the woman trying to hop onto the Erode–Chennai Yercaud Express (Train No. 22650) as it was leaving the station. Within seconds, she loses her balance and almost slips beneath the train.
Acting instantly, RPF Head Constable Sri Jagadeesan, who was on patrol at Erode Junction, rushed to the spot and pulled her to safety, preventing what could have been a horrifying accident.
The Southern Railway’s official X handle shared the video with the caption:
“Operation Jeevan Raksha – Commendable Act. Alertness saves lives! On 27.10.2025, Sri Jagadeesan, RPF Head Constable, Karur/SR, Erode Junction, promptly rescued a lady passenger who slipped while attempting to board Train No. 22650 Erode - Chennai Yercaud Express. His timely action saved a precious life. Kudos to RPF Constable Sri. Jagadeesan for his exemplary presence of mind and dedication!”
The video has since garnered over 32,000 views, with social media users praising the constable’s bravery and quick thinking. Many also urged railway authorities to reward Jagadeesan for his heroic act and to improve safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
