This mum has shared how she decided to plant her placenta into a 'tree of life'.
Kasey Sheather from the Australian Capital Territory, Australia, has taken the meaning of 'new life' to a whole new level by planting her placenta under a magnolia tree.
After keeping it in her freezer for nearly six months, Kasey turned the life-giving organ into a heartfelt family symbol that can move with them wherever they go.
She said: “It’s what kept our baby alive for nine months.
“Planting my placenta under it felt like the perfect way to honour our journey and watch it grow right alongside our family.”
Instead of leaving her placenta buried in a backyard she might one day leave behind, Kasey came up with a genius twist, planting it in a pot.
The move means her 'tree of life' can travel wherever her family does.
She chose a magnolia tree, known for symbolizing new beginnings, strength, and love.
Kasey told how for her, it’s the perfect tribute to motherhood - beautiful, meaningful, and full of life.
“So my placenta has been living in our freezer for almost six months, which I know sounds a bit weird and probably gross to some.
"But it’s incredibly special to me.
“I knew from early on that I wanted to keep it and plant it with a tree. But the problem was what happens when we move?
"I didn’t want to plant it in the backyard and then have to leave it behind one day.
“So I decided on a pot, that way it can come with us wherever life takes us, a portable tree of life.
“We ended up choosing a magnolia tree because they symbolize new beginnings, strength and love. Plus they’re beautiful when they bloom.”
