UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher visited displacement camps in Tawila, Korma, and Darfur on November 14–16, meeting survivors who fled al-Fashir after months of siege, shelling, and reported mass atrocities.
Women who escaped described drones overhead, blocked water and food routes, and widespread violence: “If you went to the market, your child would not come back.”
Fletcher called the conditions “desperate, desperate” and urged the international community to respond immediately. He also met RSF representatives and demanded full accountability for atrocities reported in al-Fashir.
According to the UN 82,000+ people have fled al-Fashir since October 26, up to 200,000 remain trapped, and Tawila alone hosts more than 600,000 displaced persons.
