DOLPHIN CARRIES HER DECEASED CALF WITH HER POD

This heartbreaking video shows a bottlenose dolphin carrying her deceased calf through the Pacific Ocean, followed by its pod.
Dylan Golden shot this footage via a drone when he spotted a dolphin trying to carry its young one on its snout.
He quickly figured that the calf was not alive and the mum was trying to give a sort of final farewell to it, along with the other dolphins, following close behind.
Dylan said: “It was a truly heartbreaking and beautiful moment.
“The dolphin mom was carrying her deceased calf through the pod, holding on even after the little one was gone.
“The rest of the dolphins stayed close, letting her lead, almost like they were giving her space to grieve.
“Dolphin mothers have been known to carry their dead calves for hours or even days.
“It’s a type of caregiving behaviour that sometimes turns into mourning, and the whole pod often sticks together during it.
“Their bonds are so deep and emotional, it really shows in moments like this.”
