Gilmour Space's Eris rocket briefly launched from Bowen Orbital Spaceport in coastal Queensland.
"The rocket began sliding sideways shortly after rising off the pad, crashing back to Earth just 14 seconds after liftoff," according to Space.com. It was the first Australian-built rocket launched from Australian soil.
