Marcos cites role of space science, technology in disaster response in Asia-Pacific forum
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. highlights the crucial role of space science and technology in strengthening disaster response, climate resilience, and sustainable development during his address at the 31st Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF-31) in Cebu, on Nov. 21, 2025. Under the theme 'Empowering the Region through Space Ecosystem in Action,' APRSAF-31 brought together experts, policymakers, and stakeholders from over 40 countries to discuss satellite technology, capability enhancement, and industry development. He said space should serve the people and encouraged delegates to share expertise, engage in meaningful dialogue, and implement responsible strategies that benefit the Asia-Pacific region. He also pointed out the Philippines’ growing role in space development, noting that this has been the country’s second time hosting APRSAF since 2016.
