Giant Robo was a major work that laid the foundation for Tokusatsu (special effects) in the 1960s. It was a television program based on a manga created by Mitsuteru Yokoyama, the author of Tetsujin 28-go, specifically designed for adaptation to television. It featured a hero concept blending elements of Daimajin and Ultraman.
