A shocking case of child trafficking has emerged from Karimnagar district, Telangana, where a Hyderabad-based woman allegedly sold her seven-day-old baby boy for ₹6 lakh. According to Karimnagar Town 2 Police, the woman was in a relationship with a man who later abandoned her, leaving her pregnant.
Police said that after giving birth, the woman claimed she did not have the financial means to raise the newborn and decided to sell the child. CCTV footage showing her carrying the infant has surfaced and gone viral on social media.
Investigators revealed that the woman approached middlemen for help, and with the involvement of 12 intermediaries, the baby was allegedly sold to a couple — Bamandla Rayamalla and his wife Latha — from Chakalivanipalle village in Ganneruvaram mandal.
The case came to light after the Child Welfare Committee received information about the sale. Acting on the tip-off, police traced the newborn and shifted him to a mother-and-child care centre. A case has been registered against more than 15 people, including the mother, the buyers, and the middlemen. Further investigation is underway.
