House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Monday tore into Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth over their role in a deadly “double-tap” strike on a suspected drug boat in the Caribbean in September, suggesting the attack violated the law and that Hegseth should face consequences. “It’s already been crystal clear that Pete Hegseth is the most unqualified secretary of Defense in American history. I called for him to be terminated months ago,” Jeffries told reporters in the Capitol. “And now we have real evidence that extrajudicial killings are taking place. That’s the stain on America’s leadership in the free world, which is why our international standing is plummeting.”
