Local doctors and nurses are not skilled or properly trained to deal with severe burns cases, according to SWRHA Director Dr Anand Chatergoon.
It’s why he says, having a specialty burns unit would not be feasible locally.
He was responding to public appeals for a Burn Centre to be established in South Trinidad, the calls came during the South West Regional Health Authority’s Public Board Meeting, at SAPA, San Fernando on Tuesday evening.
