The US has applied new sanctions meant to target persons close to Venezuela's President as well as companies in Venezuela's oil sector.
The move occurred one day after the U.S seized on oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela..
That action has led to a strong condemnation from Venezuela's government as Guyana completely distances itself from the seized tanker.
