Italy Strikes Tomorrow: Thousands of Flights at Risk Before Christmas

2025-12-18 1 Dailymotion

Thousands of passengers could face serious travel disruption as Italy braces for major airline and air traffic control strikes on December 17. With Christmas travel underway, airports across Rome, Milan, Venice, Naples, and Catania may experience delays, cancellations, and long security queues.

A four-hour national air traffic stoppage, involving air traffic controllers, ground handling staff, and airline crew from carriers like ITA Airways, Vueling, and EasyJet, could affect over 6,000 passengers. Even flights outside the strike window may still be delayed as schedules recover.

Passengers are urged to check their flight status, arrive early, and understand their rights under EU Regulation 261/2004. While meals, accommodation, and rebooking are guaranteed for significant delays, cash compensation depends on who is participating in the strike.

With strike action spreading across Europe during the festive season, staying informed is more important than ever.
