CLASSICAL CANTER
– Action Impact wins world’s first horse race run to live music –

Action Impact was spurred on by the sound of music to take first place in the world’s first horse race run to a live musical soundtrack at Kempton Park yesterday on Wednesday 8 July.

The unique ‘Classical Canter’ was run over a distance of one mile three furlongs as members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra played the adrenalin-inducing William Tell Overture in time to the on-track action; the live music echoing round the Surrey racecourse as part of the Best of British Gala Night celebrations. The music was arranged especially for the official race which lasted two minutes and 20.34 seconds, just 2.34 seconds off the record time for this distance.
