What is Communication?
• The word "communication" comes from the Latin word "communicare," which means "to share."
• Communication is the process of sharing information, ideas, or feelings between people using words, signs, gestures, or symbols.
• Good communication ensures that the message is clearly understood by the other person.
Elements of Communication
Communication happens when a message is sent from one person to another in a way that both can understand. Here are the main parts of communication:
• Sender – The person or group who starts the communication. The way they express the message depends on their knowledge and skills.
• Message – The idea, information, or feeling that the sender wants to share.
• Encoding – Converting the message into words, signs, gestures, or images so that the receiver can understand it.
• Communication Channel – The method used to send the message, like talking, texting, emails, phone calls, or social media.
• Receiver – The person or group who gets the message and tries to understand it.
• Decoding – The process where the receiver interprets (understands) the message by reading, listening, or observing.
• Feedback – The receiver’s response, which helps the sender know whether the message was understood correctly.
