Ukrainian interceptor drones have shot down two of Russia’s newest and rarest reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), identified as the “Prince Vechy Oleg.”
According to the information released, the targets were destroyed by General Cherry AIR interceptor drones, developed by the Ukrainian manufacturer General Cherry. Footage of the interceptions was published on the company’s official Facebook page, showing the moments when the Russian UAVs were intercepted and neutralized in flight.
The successful interceptions were carried out by the “Thunder” crew of the 55th Separate Artillery Brigade Zaporizhzhia Sich. Reports indicate that the use of interceptor drones made it possible to eliminate high-value enemy equipment without resorting to air-defense missiles, which are considered scarce and costly resources.
The “Prince Vechy Oleg” is presented by Russia’s military-industrial complex as one of its most modern UAVs for deep aerial reconnaissance missions. The system is reportedly capable of detecting targets at a distance of 40 to 45 kilometers from the line of contact and can operate without reliance on satellite navigation. Another highlighted feature is a secure communications channel designed to provide high resistance to electronic warfare (EW) interference.
