With the revelation that the X-Hunters could revive Zero, Mega Man X has a new determination to continue his mission of defeating the Mavericks. The first location is the Deep-Sea Base, controlled by the small but powerful Bubble Crab. Gaining the strange power of the Bubble Splash from his victory, X quickly sets his sights on the Volcanic Zone. Early on, X finds his second Sub Tank and an easy Heart Tank before reaching Violen, the first of the X-Hunters. This Maverick is pure brute force, with a devastating spike ball attack that X cannot underestimate. Even with Violen's weakness, X still has a difficult battle ahead of him.
Violen retreats before the final blow can be delivered, but X is able to retrieve part of Zero's body before continuing on to Flam Stag. The Bubble Splash really shows it's true strength as the fiery Maverick is quickly put out in no time at all. X gets no time to rest, as his next destination is the Robot Junkyard. After defeating three Mavericks and one of the X-Hunters, Mega Man X finally locates the first Capsule upgrade which enhances his body armor. Soon after, X runs into the next X-Hunter, Agile. Unlike Violen, Agile attacks with amazing speed and agility. His power is nothing to laugh at, as his blade can turn X to pieces if he is not careful. Following this intense battle, X presses on to the main junkyard where the mysterious Morph Moth awaits...
