Less than 48 hours before his capture in an overnight U.S. military operation, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro spoke of his country’s willingness to discuss oil trade and drug trafficking with Donald Trump. In an interview with a Spanish journalist, published by Mexico’s La Jornada and aired on state TV, Maduro said Washington and Caracas “must speak seriously.” He added he and Trump had only one respectful, ten-minute phone call in November.
