The proposal to limit the prime minister’s tenure to 10 years or two terms is a game changer that could usher in major reforms to Malaysia’s governance system, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as Rural and Regional Development Minister, noted that the term limit is crucial to prevent a prime minister from staying in office for too long, which could lead to leadership fatigue, even if the individual performs effectively.
