DOH to launch early measles-rubella vaccination in Mindanao
The Department of Health (DOH) will deploy 3.3 million doses of measles-rubella vaccines in Mindanao, as the number of children missing routine vaccination rises in the region. Health Secretary Ted Herbosa inspected the additional 1.3 million doses of the vaccines at the DOH Warehouse in Caloocan for its Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (SIA) this January, which will start in Mindanao on the 19th. He added that 2 million doses were already deployed in the region. The SIA campaign—which is typically held every 5 years—is being conducted earlier due to the increasing number of zero-dose children, or those that are not fully-immunized.
