Watch this shocking video as a diver loses consciousness during a freediving competition.
Cassandra Cooper, an experienced, professional freediver from Canada, had taken part in a sanctioned Double K IDA Freediving Competition in Mactan, Cebu, Philippines.
Before the dive, she had trained at Camotes Freediving Centre in the Philippines.
During the dive, due to a brief loss of motor control, she blacked out underwater and was immediately assisted by safety divers around her.
Cassandra said: “I was recovered immediately by the safety team and suffered no injury.
“I shared this video for educational and awareness purposes.
“And I also shared it because, in freediving, like any sport, sometimes we find our limits.
“That's why the best place to perform at a high level is in a competition, where the strongest safety protocols are in place.”
“I also want to tell people that they should not attempt something like this without proper training, supervision, and safety procedures”
