स्ट्रे डॉग्स (Stray Dogs) को लेकर सुप्रीम कोर्ट के रुख ने देशभर में बहस छेड़ दी है। लगातार तीन दिन की गहन सुनवाई के बाद अदालत ने साफ संकेत दिए हैं कि आवारा कुत्तों को नियंत्रित करना सरकार की जिम्मेदारी है और लापरवाही होने पर जवाबदेही तय की जा सकती है।
सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने यह भी कहा है कि यदि सार्वजनिक जगहों पर गलत तरीके से कुत्तों को खाना खिलाने की वजह से डॉग बाइट की घटनाएँ होती हैं, तो डॉग फीडर्स को भी कानूनी जिम्मेदारी उठानी पड़ सकती है। हालांकि कोर्ट ने यह स्पष्ट किया है कि सभी कुत्तों को सड़कों से हटाने या हिंसक कार्रवाई का कोई आदेश नहीं है।

The Supreme Court’s observations in the Stray Dogs case have triggered a nationwide debate. After three days of intense hearings, the Court has indicated that controlling stray dogs is the responsibility of state authorities, and negligence could lead to accountability and compensation.
The Court also warned that dog feeders may be held liable if stray dog attacks occur due to improper feeding in public places. However, it clarified that there is no order for mass removal of dogs or any violent action against them.
