For five remote Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory, law and justice groups play a vital role in keeping the peace and preserving culture. The groups are recognised by the government as fulfilling a number of responsibilities, from assisting judges in community courts to keeping the peace between warring parties. But over the past year and a half, the plan to roll out law and justice groups across the Territory has come to a halt, leaving some to question the future of the initiative.
