Trump Warns He May Invoke Insurrection Act to Deploy US Troops to Minnesota | APT

President Donald Trump has warned that he may invoke the Insurrection Act to deploy US troops to Minnesota, citing rising tensions between state officials and federal authorities over immigration enforcement tactics.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump accused Minnesota politicians of failing to uphold the law and allowing unrest linked to immigration protests. He said that if state leaders do not intervene, he would move to deploy troops under the Insurrection Act. Trump described protesters as “professional agitators and insurrectionists” and said Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers were being targeted.

The Insurrection Act, first passed in 1792 and revised in 1871, allows presidents to deploy troops inside the United States in specific circumstances. Trump has previously threatened to use the law during protests tied to immigration enforcement.

Attention has now turned to Trump’s past actions in similar situations, particularly in Los Angeles. Earlier this year, immigration arrests in the LA region quadrupled between April and June, with immigrants without criminal convictions making up an increasing share of those detained. Concerns over racial profiling led to legal challenges, while protests erupted following weeks of intensified immigration raids.

Despite objections from state and local leaders, Trump deployed National Guard troops and Marines to Los Angeles. Most forces were later withdrawn, with the administration declaring success, though limited prosecutions followed.
