ABOUT ‘VRINDAVAN MEIN’ SONG
This song reflects the wait of a devotee, a friend and a lover. When Shri Krishna left Vrindavan and went to Mathura, Radha and many Gopis were waiting for him. The same wait has been shown in a beautiful way in this song where the poet is considering himself as a friend, Sudama, Meera and devotee too. In this song the poet is requesting to meet Shri Krishna. The poet is describing his own presence in Vrindavan and on the same land he is waiting for Shri Krishna.
ABOUT VRINDAVAN
‘Vrinda’ or Brinda refers to Tulsi or Holy Basil, the single most important of all poojas or worship of the gods in Hinduism. The Tulsi leaves are offered in worship and garlands are strung to adorn the gods. ‘Vana’ is the Sanskrit word for forest; it is believed that Vrindavan was once abode to large, dense growths of the Tulsi plant, hence the name.
Vrindavan is a holy town in Uttar Pradesh, northern India. The Hindu deity Krishna is said to have spent his childhood here. It’s home to temples, many dedicated to Krishna and his lover, the deity Radha. Folklore and recorded evidence of Krishna’s life and his childhood shows us that he was raised in the village of Gokul near Vrindavan by his foster parents, Yashoda and Nanda. Vrindavan was the site of Krishna’s early childhood; the dense forests were ideal for him and his brother Balarama to play games and indulge in childhood pranks and pastimes with other children from Gokul.
