Exiled Iranians rallied in Berlin, Germany, on January 18, to support protesters at home and call for freedom and democracy in Iran.
The demonstration took place in front of the iconic Brandenburg Gate, with participants holding banners reading “Freedom for Iran” and images of Mahsa Amini, the young woman whose death sparked nationwide protests in Iran.
Protesters chanted “Jin Jiyan Azadi” (Women, Life, Freedom) and called on the European Union to maintain pressure on the Iranian government while opposing foreign military intervention.
Hamid Nowzari, head of the Association of Iranian Refugees in Berlin, emphasized the importance of giving a voice to those silenced by the Iranian blackout of news and highlighted the ongoing struggle for human rights and democracy.
