The initiative, joined by the governor, activists, and volunteers, seeks to protect this vulnerable species, threatened by habitat destruction, pollution, and poaching. Organizers emphasized the turtles’ vital role in the Amazon ecosystem and highlighted the importance of collective action to safeguard biodiversity.
